THE WORLD IS BREAKING. AND SO ARE THEY.
KATE HARKER isn’t afraid of monsters. She hunts them. And she’s good at it.
AUGUST FLYNN once yearned to be human. He has a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.
THE WAR HAS BEGUN.
THE MONSTERS ARE WINNING.
Kate will have to return to Verity. August will have to let her back in. And a new monster is waiting—one that feeds on chaos and brings out its victims’ inner demons.
Which will be harder to conquer: the monsters they face, or the monsters within?
First of i can admit that i liked this more than the first one, the main characters had developed and grown up. This book picks up some months after the savage song where August is fulfilling his duty by ripping out those who have wronged others violently and Kate is now a monster ( partly ) and is fighting along . We get to see both of their inner fights and struggles thru the book. August struggles with his duty and what he believes is right and Kate fights her demons and struggling to keep them away . Kate was a real badass in this book!
August and Kate’s friendship was one of the most beautiful thing of this series. They were both exactly what the other one needed, here to support and care for each other despite being complete opposite and natural enemies at first. August needed Kate to realise who he was could live along what he was. Kate needed August to open her eyes on the world and on what she truly wanted.
I have some questions that has annoyed me , why do we get introduced to a group of new characters just to complete disregard them later. We don’t know what happened to them after Kate left or if they ever found out what happened to her. AND that fucking ending, like WHYY did that character had to die???!!! ( i aint gonna tell u who ofc, but sry for spoilers)
The characters that schwab creates are so complex and distinct and likeable and alive, you can’t even stop yourself from falling in love with a fucking cat, like, give me a break.
This book was dark af and I love it. Victoria Schwab knows how to write a damn good book and they can get right under your skin and then break you into a million pieces. just accept the fact that you sign up for pain and suffering every time you buy a book by victoria schwab. reading schwab books equals signing a contract with the devil and honestly?? selling my soul was worth it. 10/10 would do it again, lol.
So the final question is, do i recommend you to read this book? HELL YEAH, READ IT!
I give this book 4/5 stars
